Training for Adult Dogs
We provide group training classes at our secure training area
We can arrange specialist one-to-one training at the training school, or in your own home or your neighbourhood.
It’s Never Too Late: It’s never too late to address a training issue. But continuity is always best. We are happy to provide advice and practical training sessions to address lead walking issues, poor recall, and over-excitement with people and dogs, both inside and outside your home.
01
Dog Training Classes
We run RKC Good Citizen courses at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. These courses are designed to take your dog from performing basic control exercises on lead to introducing distractions into your training programme, and finally to having a reliable dog off lead. Some trainers claim that you don’t need such a careful progression, but you really do.
Failings at any point in the training process usually stem from early training, when important foundation work was missed, or from a failure to provide continuity. We can help you recover from an annoying, inconvenient problem or a seemingly helpless situation.
02
Recall Training
We specialise in training an effective and reliable recall, whether it is a young dog pushing the boundaries, or a dog that has lost a previously effective recall, or an older dog who has never learned to recall. This training usually takes place on our secure 2-acre training field and is carried out in 1-to-1 sessions using non-aversive methods.
03
Loose Lead walking
Loose-lead walking is taught in all our RKC Courses, but for dogs who pull like a steam train, one-to-one training sessions may be the best solution.
We specialise in training good manners and effective loose-lead walking. Ideally, this is trained when your dog is young, but we also train older dogs who have had no effective training or who have lost their skills.
Loose Lead training is usually conducted in 1-to-1 sessions at our training area or in nearby villages, but it can also be arranged in your own neighbourhood.

Continuation Classes
To maintain and improve skills
We have a weekly continuation training class that takes you beyond the RKC courses. Owners set the agenda here for their own training needs. Owners may choose to learn advanced obedience, including tracking, leading to UK Tracking Dog Association qualifications, and scent work, which is an excellent means of building optimism in anxious or fearful dogs.
This class also includes some of our clients' dogs that have difficulty working close to other dogs, though these dogs are introduced very carefully into the group.
